Millions of pesos worth of counterfeit products seized in Metro Manila, Rizal

Millions of pesos worth of counterfeit products were confiscated by the National Bureau of Investigation (NBI) in separate operations in parts of Metro Manila and Rizal.

In Binondo, Manila, the NBI seized counterfeit Gentle Monster products amounting to P5.5 million.

According to the NBI, it implemented three search warrants against different stores in Binondo on July 30 for violation of the Intellectual Property Code of the Philippines.

In Valenzuela and Cainta, Rizal, the operation led to the seizure of counterfeit Lacoste products, including undergarments, with an estimated value of P73,986,000.

This came after a law firm representing Lacoste asked the NBI to investigate and enforce actions against the proliferation and distribution of counterfeit products bearing the trademark of the French luxury sports fashion company.

In Manila and Parañaque City, NBI operatives seized counterfeit products such as adapters, cables, earphone/headsets, wireless mouse and screen protectors bearing the trademark of Huawei with an estimated value of P54 million.

The operation stemmed from a complaint filed by Lee Bumgarner Inc. on behalf of their client Huawei. — Joahna Lei Casilao and Jiselle Anne Casucian/VBL, GMA Integrated News
