Outgoing Swedish envoy pays courtesy call on Marcos
President Ferdinand ''Bongbong'' Marcos Jr. on Tuesday expressed gratitude to outgoing Sweden Ambassador Annika Thunborg, saying her work has brought the Philippines and Sweden closer.
“I have to once again express our gratitude for the support that you’ve shown to the Philippines in terms of the problems, challenges that we are facing here,” Marcos told Thunborg, who paid a farewell call on him at Malacañang.
“Thank you very much for all that you have done—bringing our two countries closer together,” he also said.
Thunborg also spoke with Marcos about her three years in the Philippines, and highlighted the importance of forging strong partnerships with like-minded nations.
Thunborg presented her Letter of Credence as Ambassador of the Kingdom of Sweden to the Philippines in October 2021.
She was previously assigned to Mexico and the Swedish Permanent Mission of Sweden to the International Organizations in Geneva.
The Presidential Communications Office said that diplomatic relations between the Philippines and Sweden was established on January 17, 1947. — BM, GMA Integrated News
