Yulo, Petecio, Villegas conferred with Senate medals of excellence
The Senate on Monday conferred the chamber’s medal of excellence to Paris Olympics medalists Carlos Yulo, Nesthy Petecio, and Aira Villegas.
The three medalists along with 10 Filipino athletes who competed in the recently-concluded Summer Olympics graced the Senate halls to receive the resolutions passed by the chamber to honor them.
The Senate also gave P3 million to Yulo for winning two gold medals (P1.5 million each medal) and P1 million each to Petecio and Villegas for bringing home bronze medals from the prestigious sports bout.
Meanwhile, the Senate also passed a resolution honoring Philippine Olympic Committee President Abraham “Bambol” Tolentino for his “strong leadership” of the body, particularly during a period of historic achievements for Filipino athletes in international competitions, particularly the Olympics.
