CA panel endorses appointment of Cacdac as DMW chief

A CA panel has endorsed the confirmation of the ad interim appointment of Hans Leo Cacdac as DMW Secretary.

A panel of the Commission on Appointments (CA) on Tuesday endorsed the confirmation of the ad interim appointment of Hans Leo Cacdac as secretary of the Department of Migrant Workers (DMW).

CA Majority Floor Leader Rep. Luis Raymund Villafuerte Jr. moved to recommend to the plenary the ad interim appointment of Cacdac as DMW chief which was seconded by Senator Risa Hontiveros.

Committee on Labor, Employment, Social Welfare, and Migrant Workers chairperson Rep. Mercedes Alvarez approved the motion.

Cacdac is scheduled to face the CA plenary deliberations within the day for the official confirmation of his ad interim appointment.

In May, President Ferdinand “Bongbong” Marcos Jr. reappointed Cacdac as the ad interim secretary of the DMW, a day after his appointment was bypassed as Congress adjourned sessions sine die.

The CA, which is composed of members of the Senate and the House of Representatives mandated to screen presidential appointees, deferred Cacdac’s confirmation due to "lack of material time.”

Earlier, the House appropriations panel rescheduled the budget deliberation for the proposed 2025 budget of the DMW's because of Cacdac's CA hearing.
