Comelec: New voters for 2025 NLE reached over 5.8M

The number of new registered voters for the 2025 national and local elections (NLE) has reached more than 5.8 million, according to figures released by the Commission on Elections (Comelec).

As of Aug. 31, Comelec data showed that the number of new registrants was at 5,831,291. Of this number, a total of 3,004,233 were female while 2,827,058 were male.

Calabarzon recorded the most number of registrants with 974,655. It was followed by the National Capital Region with 782,838; Central Luzon with 662,246; Davao Region with 328,955; and Central Visayas with 309,905.

The Comelec main office in Manila City, meanwhile, registered 9,201 new voters.

The voter registration period for the May 2025 midterm polls started on Feb. 12 this year.

Comelec Chairperson George Erwin Garcia earlier said there would be no extension for the Sept. 30 voter registration deadline.

Applicants may register from Monday to Saturday, 8 a.m. to 5 p.m., at any Comelec office nationwide.

The poll body said registered voters for the May 2025 polls have reached 65.9 million, still short of the 70 million voters the poll body projected.

Delisted voters

Meanwhile, delisted voters for Eleksyon 2025 eased to 5,376,630 from the previous 5,388,421. A total of 714,035 voters were deleted from the official voter list.

Comelec deactivates voters for failing to vote in two successive preceding regular elections, by court order, loss of Filipino citizenship, and for having non-valid documents.
