Meralco, PNP partner vs 'jumper'
The Manila Electric Company (Meralco) and the Philippine National Police (PNP) on Tuesday signed a memorandum of understanding (MOU) to address “jumper” or electricity theft.
In a statement, the PNP said that under this agreement, Meralco has committed to launching information campaigns on energy safety and disaster preparedness.
Meralco will help the PNP in promoting safe electricity use, providing specialized training, extending legal assistance, and holding other corporate social responsibility (CSR) projects for the community.
PNP chief Police General Rommel Marbil said the PNP and Meralco are united to create safer, stronger, and more resilient communities, demonstrating the power of public-private partnerships in addressing societal issues.
According to the PNP, the MOU is a significant step in enhancing the cooperation between law enforcement and private sector entities.
For the signing ceremony at the Meralco Compound in Pasig City, Meralco was represented by its chief operating officer Ronnie L. Aperocho, networks head Engr. Froilan Savet, and corporate security management head Michael Saguin.
