DSWD: Walang Gutom Kitchen in Pasay to remain open on Dec. 24, 26 to 31

The Walang Gutom Kitchen, the national government's food bank, will be open to provide meals over the coming days amid the Holiday season, the Department of Social Welfare and Development (DSWD) said on Tuesday.

According to DSWD Spokesperson Irene Dumlao, the newly opened Walang Gutom Kitchen in Pasay City will be open on December 24, December 30, and December 31 but will be closed on December 25 and January 1, 2025.

"Our Walang Gutom Kitchen will continue to provide food on December 24, 30, and 31 which are holidays. It will also continue to operate on December 26 to 29 which are regular days," Dumlao said.

"The Walang Gutom Kitchen is open to all families and individuals in street situations (FISS) and those experiencing involuntary hunger," she added.

Early this month, the DSWD launched the food bank at the Nasdake Building, FB Harrison in Pasay City. The Walang Gutom Program is a partnership between the government and the private sector, with an aim to address involuntary hunger and to help minimize food wastage in the country.

Establishments, such as restaurants and hotels, may donate their excess food to the bank, while donations from private individuals will also be accepted. — VDV, GMA Integrated News
