Quiboloy hospitalized due to pneumonia, BJMP says

Apollo Quiboloy had pneumonia and was hospitalized, the BJMP said

Detained Kingdom of Jesus Christ (KOJC) leader Pastor Apollo Quiboloy was brought to a hospital on Saturday after complaining difficulty in breathing, the Bureau of Jail Management and Penology (BJMP) said on Tuesday.

“The BJMP confirms that on Saturday, 18 January 2025, at around 5PM, PDL Apollo Quiboloy was brought to Rizal Medical Center (RMC) by BJMP-Pasig City Jail Male Dormitory,” BJMP spokesperson Jail Superintendent Jayrex Bustinera told GMA News Online in a message.

“PDL Quiboloy complained of difficulty in breathing and the BJMP Physician recommended that the said PDL be brought to the nearest government hospital for appropriate medical intervention,” he added.

According to Bustinera, the attending physician at RMC recommended hospital confinement and diagnosed Quiboloy with a “community acquired pneumonia.”

“We assure the public that PDL Quiboloy remains under BJMP Custody and that strict security is in place while in hospital confinement,” he added.

Quiboloy, a self-proclaimed "Son of God," is currently facing a non-bailable qualified human trafficking charge under Section 4(a) of Republic Act No. 9208, as amended, before a Pasig court.

He is also facing charges under Section 5(b) and  Section 10(a) of Republic Act 7610 or the Special Protection of Children Against Abuse, Exploitation, and Discrimination Act.

The Philippine National Police transferred Quiboloy to the Pasig City Jail Male Dormitory in November 2024. —KG, GMA Integrated News
