House adopts reso expressing condolences to family of Edcel Lagman

The House of Representatives has adopted a resolution expressing profound condolences to the family of the late Albay 1st district Representative Edcel Lagman.

On Monday night, the House adopted House Resolution No. 2214, authored by Speaker Martin Romualdez, among others, in consolidation with HR Nos. 2211 and 2212.

Lagman, who passed away on January 30, 2025, served as Representative of the 1st legislative district of Albay during the 8th, 9th, 10th, 13th, 14th, 15th, 17th, 18th, and 19th Congresses.

He died at the age of 82, due to cardiac arrest, as confirmed by his daughter Tabaco City Mayor Krisel Lagman.

The late lawmaker served as the president of the Liberal Party (LP).

Former senator Francis “Kiko” Pangilinan, a member of LP, said that Lagman’s personal and political life “had been a testament to the power of principled leadership and the enduring fight for the rights of every Filipino, especially the last, the least, and the lost.”

Meanwhile, Romualdez said that Lagman’s death “leaves a great void, not just in Congress but in Philippine public service.” — Giselle Ombay/RSJ, GMA Integrated News
