DOLE to issue certificates to nursing retake exam passers Wednesday

MANILA, Philippines - The Labor Department said it will start issuing on Wednesday certificates to successful examinees of last December's retake of Tests III and V of the June 2006 Nursing Licensure Exams. A statement on the Labor Department website Tuesday afternoon said the certificates will be distributed from 9 a.m. to noon, and 1:30 to 4:30 p.m. Schedule of release of individual Certificates are as follows: May 7, 2008 - Abad - Bendo May 8, 2008 - Bergado - Dayawon May 9, 2008 - De Guzman - Ganay May 12, 2008 - Gantangco - Luna May 13, 2008 - Lusis - Paderes May 14, 2008 - Padilla - Saloria May 15, 2008 - Samia - Zolina Labor Sec. Marianito Roque said the successful examinees can get their certificates at the Office of the Secretary at the DOLE in Intramuros, Manila. Examinees only need to present their Professional Regulation Commission (PRC) License to get their certificates. Proxy claimants or representatives are required to present an authorization letter together with the examinee's original PRC License and a photocopy of the License for DOLE files. Those residing outside Metro Manila who may claim their Certificates through the DOLE Regional Offices should register with the Regional Office nearest their place of residence or work, Roque said. "The DOLE Central Office shall transmit (in batches) the Certificates within three days from receipt of notice from the Regional Office concerned," Roque said. Some 1,131 nurses licensed under the June 2007 NLE took the voluntary retake in December and out of that number 729 or 64% passed the exam. The rest (402 or 36%) failed to meet the passing grade of at least 75% in both Tests III and V. However, Roque clarified that the results of the voluntary retake examination will not affect their status as licensed nurses. He said those who failed will simply not qualify for US VisaScreen Certificate issued bu the US Commission on Graduates of a Foreign Nursing School (CGFNS). - GMANews.TV
