BI arrests two foreigners for overstaying

The Bureau of Immigration (BI) has apprehended two foreign nationals for overstaying in the Philippines, the agency announced on Friday.

Chinese national Dong Chengzhi was arrested by the BI’s Intelligence Division in Doljo, Panglao on February 20.

In a separate operation on the same day, Japanese national Takeshi Nishiyama was taken into custody in Kasambagan, Cebu City.

According to the BI, both individuals had exceeded their authorized period of stay and were reported as overstaying aliens in their respective locations.

“The Bureau remains vigilant in tracking down overstaying foreign nationals and ensuring compliance with visa regulations. Violators will face legal consequences, and we will not tolerate any disregard for immigration laws,” said BI Commissioner Joel Anthony Viado.

The two individuals are currently under BI custody, awaiting deportation. — DVM, GMA Integrated News
