Heidi Mendoza warns of scams exploiting her Senate campaign

Independent senatorial aspirant Heidi Mendoza has warned the public about scams that may be using her campaign to extort money from supporters.

In a Facebook post at 10 a.m. on Tuesday, Mendoza shared that she received a long, incoherent message that she struggled to understand.

At 1:31 p.m., Mendoza made another post, clarifying that she does not have a PayPal account and calling on the Department of Information and Communications Technology (DICT) to take action against the scammer.

"Mukhang favorite ng scammer these days! Wala po akong PayPal... Heto yung number ng scammer ko just now! Hello DICT, please do your job!" she posted.

In a final post at 1:42 p.m., Mendoza expressed frustration over people asking for her campaign materials but not sharing them, instead supporting other candidates.

She urged the public not to fall for scams, emphasizing that she does not solicit money through messaging apps like Messenger, Telegram, or Viber.

"Wag po basta magpadala! Again… Hindi po ako nanghihingi ng kahit anong halaga through Messenger, Telegram, o Viber! Wala po akong PayPal! Ilang beses na po akong ginawan ng fake PayPal account!" she said.

(Do not fall for scams! Again… I am not asking for any amount through Messenger, Telegram, or Viber! I don’t have PayPal! Several fake PayPal accounts have already been created under my name!)

For those who genuinely want to support her campaign, Mendoza advised them to directly contribute by producing campaign materials or providing food for volunteers.

"Kung may gusto pong tumulong, diretso na po sa pagpapagawa ng campaign materials o sa pagpapakain ng mga volunteers! Mag-ingat po tayo!" she added.
