Querubin says fearless leaders needed to fight corruption
Senatorial candidate Ariel Querubin joined a gathering of military veterans and retirees in Bailen, Cavite where he highlighted the need for principled leadership and governance reforms.
Querubin, a retired Marine colonel, was joined by fellow senatorial candidate Gregorio Honasan at the event.
“Corruption ang sumisira ng lahat. Paano ka gagawa ng eskwelahan dyan, ibubulsa nila. Paano ka gagawa ng daan na maganda, ibubulsa na naman nila,” Querubin stated.
(Corruption is what destroys everything. How will you make a school when they pocket the funds? How will you make a decent road, when they take the money?)
“Kailangan natin na maibalik yung matatapang na Senador na walang sinasanto. Nagrerebelde kami, nilabanan namin lahat. Kahit pa kaibigan namin. Sabi nga namin, our loyalty to our friend ends where our loyalty to our countrymen, country begins,” he added.
(We need to bring back fearless senators who side with no one. We fought the system, even if some people there were our friends.)
In a video posted on Facebook, Honasan also said the election is not about the candidates’ looks but their experiences and capability to fight for the country.
Meanwhile, reelectionist Senator Bong Go said at least 17 regional specialty centers will be established across the country.
These centers, which will be integrated into existing Department of Health (DOH) hospitals, will provide essential, specialized healthcare services to Filipinos across the country— focusing on critical medical areas, including heart health, kidney care, and other specialized treatments.
"As the principal sponsor of this law, I am proud to announce that 17 specialty centers will soon be available in key regions. These centers will bring much-needed medical services closer to the people they no longer have to travel all the way to Manila for specialized care," Go emphasized during his address at the Liga ng mga Barangay Catanduanes Chapter at Citystate Tower, in Ermita, Manila.
"Under this law, we are building specialty centers in different parts of the country, so Filipinos no longer need to endure long travels just to receive high-level medical treatment. For example, patients in the Bicol region can now access heart and kidney services without having to leave their provinces," Go explained.
He further stressed the importance of these centers in addressing the healthcare needs of underserved regions, particularly in areas like Catanduanes, where medical facilities are limited.
"In the past, patients had to endure long journeys, sometimes even traveling to Manila for specialized medical care. With these specialty centers, we are bringing the services to the people. They will no longer have to go through the inconvenience of traveling far for treatments like heart surgeries or kidney dialysis," he added.—Jiselle Anne Casucian, Mariel Celine Serquina, Sherylin Untalan/LDF, GMA Integrated News
