76% of adult Filipinos satisfied with AFP’s performance —OCTA poll
The majority of adult Filipinos said they approve of the performance of the Armed Forces of the Philippines (AFP) in the fourth quarter of 2024, results of a commissioned survey by OCTA Research showed.
Based on the survey conducted from November 10 to 16, 2024, 76% of adult Filipinos were satisfied with the overall accomplishments of the country’s military forces, while 2% were dissatisfied, resulting in a net satisfaction rating of +74.
Across major areas, the AFP's net satisfaction rating was high except for Balance Luzon with +68.
Its net satisfaction rating remained at +74 since June 2024, increasing by 20 points in the National Capital Region (NCR) and 10 points in Visayas, and dipping by 9 points in Mindanao and 7 points in Balance Luzon.
Moreover, the AFP also gathered a +73 net trust rating, as the survey results revealed that about 75% of adult Filipinos trust the AFP, while 2% expressed distrust.
Its net trust rating was the highest in the Visayas (+88) and the lowest in Balance Luzon (+68). In terms of socioeconomic classes, the AFP had its highest net trust rating among Class E respondents (+82), and lowest among those from Class D (+74).
The AFP's net trust rating in Q4 of 2024, however, showed a decline since December 2023. By major areas, it dropped by 20 points in Mindanao and 9 points in Balance Luzon, and increased by 13 points in the NCR and by 16 points in Visayas.
“These findings highlight the widespread public trust and approval of the AFP. Across various regions and demographics, Filipinos continue to recognize the AFP’s commitment to safeguarding the nation and addressing evolving security challenges,” the OCTA said.
The survey used face-to-face interviews of 1,200 adults nationwide. It has a ±3% margin of error at a 95% confidence level.
The survey results became part of a broader study on civil-military relations, commissioned by the Office of the AFP’s Deputy Chief of Staff for Civil-Military Operations, J7.
