Pia Cayetano meets women leaders in Batangas

Reelectionist Senator Pia Cayetano on Monday met women leaders, barangay leaders, senior citizens, youth, and members of the LGBTQ+ community at the Sampaguita Farm Function Hall at Batangas State University.

Coinciding her visit with Women's Month, Cayetano recalled her experiences as an athlete, lawyer, lawmaker, and mother, highlighting the importance of women's empowerment.

"Pagdating ko sa Senate, ginamit ko yung karanasan ko bilang isang ina. Yung pagiging abogado, yun yung way ko na magawa ko yung trabaho. Kasi paano ako gagawa ng batas kung hindi ko maintindihan, hindi ko maisulat, yung nakikita kong problema, hindi ko pwedeng ipaglaban," Cayetano said.

"Isa doon ay yung Magna Carta of Women," she added.

In Laguna, senatorial candidate former Marine Colonel Ariel Querubin stressed his platform against corruption, citing the recent incident of the collapsed bridge in Isabela.

"'Yan po ang dahilan kung bakit galit na galit po yung Ariel Querubin sa mga corrupt na tao, sa mga magnanakaw,” Querubin said at the Siniloan municipal hall according to a statement.

(That’s why I’m angry at corrupt people.)

The Department of Public Works and Highways is investigating the collapse of the bridge, which connects the town of Cabagan to Santa Maria.

In Quezon City, television personality Willie Revillame said Monday that he will prioritize working on measures to elevate the welfare of the poor as he campaigns in Quezon City for a seat in the Senate.

“Uunahin ko na yung mahihirap kesa yung sa corruption para mas mahaba ang buhay nating mga kababayang mahihirap kasi marami nang batas ginawa sa corruption,” Revillame said during his speech.
“Gagawa ako ng batas para mabuhay ng maayos ang ating mga kababayan,” he added.
