Nora Aunor drops party-list bid

National Artist for Film and Broadcast Arts Nora Aunor has dropped out as one of the nominees of People’s Champ Guardians party-list.

Aunor, the former second nominee of People’s Champ Guardians party-list, said she has decided to support Kabayan party-list’s election bid instead.

"Imbes na maghanap pa ng posisyon, mas pinili kong suportahan ang subok na sa tunay na serbisyo sa bayan, at ito ay ang Kabayan Partylist," Aunor was quoted as saying.

(Instead of seeking a position, I decided to support a group that is tried and tested in public service, and that is Kabayan party-list.)

Kabayan party-list, for its part, welcomed Aunor’s change of heart.

“Malugod na tinatanggap ng Kabayan Partylist ang suporta ni "Superstar" at Pambansang Alagad ng Sining para sa Pelikula at Broadcast Arts na si Nora Aunor matapos siyang umatras bilang ikalawang nominee ng People’s Champ Guardians party-list,” Kabayan party-list said.

“Matagal nang inspirasyon si Ms. Aunor ng maraming Pilipino, hindi lang sa kanyang husay sa sining kundi pati sa kanyang malasakit sa kapwa, lalo na sa mga mahihirap, manggagawa at kapwa artista. Ang kanyang pagsuporta sa Kabayan party-list ay sumasalamin sa kanilang iisang adhikain—ang isulong ang kapakanan ng mga nasa laylayan at tiyaking maproteksyonan ang kanilang karapatan,” Kabayan added.

(Nora Aunor has long been an inspiration to Filipinos not only because of her excellence in her craft but also for her concern for our people, especially the poor, workers and her fellow actors. Her support is a reflection of her advocacy in helping those in need and protecting their rights.)

Kabayan party-list is currently represented by Rep. Ron Salo.

"Lubos naming ikinararangal ang pagsuportang ito mula kay Ms. Nora Aunor, isang natatanging Pilipino na nagbigay-inspirasyon sa maraming kababayan natin," he said.
