Independent bets push for aid for small-time businesses, workers rights
Independent Senate bets for the Eleksyon 2025 on Wednesday pushed for support for the rights of small businesses and workers’ rights on the campaign trail.
Former Senator Bam Aquino had a consultation with vendors in Calasiao, Pangasinan.
"[Ang] maganda, may tulong [ang gobyerno] para sa mga vendors kasi ang mahal na ng bigas at asukal. Ito, itong yung hinahanap natin, na lahat tayo nasa posisyon na kaya maging successful, nasa posisyon na kaya nating kumita para sa ating pamilya," Aquino, one of the authors of the Go Negosyo Act that mandates the creation of Negosyo Centers designed to support micro, small and medium enterprises, said.
Labor leaders Leody De Guzman and Luke Espiritu, for their part, held a dialogue with residents of Josefina, Zamboanga Del Sur.
De Guzman and Espiritu sympathized with the residents' struggle against mining operations that threaten the community's ecology.
Fisherfolk Ronel Arambulo of the Makabayan coalition, on the other hand, had a speaking engagement in UP Visayas in Iloilo to call on the Supreme Court to reverse its decision allowing commercial fishing inside municipal waters, saying this is detrimental to the fisherfolk in the countryside. --VAL, GMA Integrated News
