Bam Aquino opposes forced trike modernization
Former Senator Bam Aquino on Tuesday opposed the forced modernization of tricycles without sufficient government support, emphasizing that modernization efforts should not result in job losses.
“Kung pipilitin kayong mag-e-trike, dapat may programa na kung saan kaya niyong makakuha ng unit na abot-kaya, na hindi maaantala ang kita natin,” Aquino said during a dialogue with tricycle drivers in Quezon City.
(If you are going to be required to modernize, there should be a program that ensures you can obtain an affordable unit without disrupting your earnings.)
“Hindi tayo papayag na mawawala ang hanapbuhay niyo. Ipaglalaban natin ang karapatan niyong maghanap-buhay at kumita,” Aquino added.
(We won't allow you to lose your livelihoods. We will fight for your right to work and earn a decent living.)
Aquino also stressed that the rise of motorcycle taxis should not force tricycles out, as they continue to offer accessible passenger services.

Former Irosin Mayor and ex-Galing Pook Executive Director Dr. Eddie Dorotan underscored the importance of active civic involvement in shaping policies that address public needs.
