Escudero: Blind items vs. senators are personal issues

Senate President Francis “Chiz” Escudero believes there is no need for him to address the blind items that disclosed information on senators, noting that these articles pertained to their personal lives and not their jobs as lawmakers.

“Bahagi yan marahil ng init sa politika na kinabibilangan na rin namin at hindi para sa akin na seryosohin ‘yan o gawan pa ng hakbang kaugnay ng mga lumalabas ng chismis, nakakasira man o nakakaganda sa parte o sa panig ng Senado,” Escudero, who admitted that he became a subject of several blind items before, said.

(That might be part of the heat of politics. That is something that I do not take seriously or something to address, regardless if it destroys or helps the image of the Senate.)

“At hindi naman ito tinutukoy ang trabaho ng mga miyembro ng Senado, kung hindi ‘di umano, personal na buhay ‘di umano ulit ng ilang miyembro,” the Senate chief pointed out.

(This also does not pertain to the job of the members of the Senate, but the personal lives of the senators.)

Escudero said in jest, “Hindi porket Chiz ang pangalan ko ay tatanungin n’yo na ako tungkol sa chismis. At hindi porket Chiz ang pangalan ko chismoso na ako.”

Several blind items were recently published online pertaining to some personal activities and relationships of some senators.

Among the recently published blind items was a male senator who allegedly has a relationship with a man who currently lives in the United States.

Another blind item published by a local news outfit claimed that there were two senators who allegedly share the same massage therapist who purportedly offers extra service. —LDF, GMA Integrated News
