NLEX traffic eases as all Marilao northbound lanes reopen
The North Luzon Expressway (NLEX) Corporation said Wednesday that traffic has started to normalize after the northbound lanes in the Marilao Interchange Bridge have reopened.
NLEX Corp. assistant vice president for traffic operation Robin Ignacio said that all four lanes of the Marilao northbound have been passable to vehicles since 1 a.m. on March 26, 2025.
“Simula kanina, around 1:00 a.m., bumilis na ang daloy ng traffic natin at tuloy-tuloy nga po na fast moving ang ating traffic. Open lanes na po tayo lahat,” Ignacio said in a Super Radyo dzBB interview.
(Since around 1:00 a.m., our traffic flow has been smooth and vehicles have been fast-moving. Our lanes are now all open.)
Ignacio also said that toll fees along NLEX remain waived as of Wednesday morning.
The Department of Transportation (DOTr), meanwhile, thanked NLEX Corp. for opening all four lanes a week ahead of the original schedule.
“This will now allow close to normal travel times, so that commuters and motorists on NLEX can spend more valuable time with their families and reach their destinations promptly,” the DOTr said in a statement.
The flow of traffic along two northbound lanes of the NLEX was severely disrupted after a trailer truck damaged the Marilao Interchange Bridge last March 19.
Portions of the NLEX northbound lane under the Marilao Bridge were temporarily closed for safety repair works.
The truck reportedly exceeded the 4.27-meter limit restriction under the Marilao Interchange Bridge. NLEX Corp. said it is considering recovering the cost of repair from the drivers and owners of two trucks involved in the recent collision.
It has already filed charges of reckless imprudence resulting in damage to property, and intends to claim restoration costs through legal proceedings. —Giselle Ombay/ VAL, GMA Integrated News
