VP Sara Duterte endorses Imee Marcos' 2025 reelection bid
Vice President Sara Duterte has endorsed the reelection bid of presidential sister and Senator Imee Marcos weeks after she withdrew from the administration's senatorial ticket.
On Monday, Imee released on her Facebook page the political advertisement where she was endorsed by the Vice President.
In the 31-second video, Duterte and Imee, who were both dressed in black, slammed the current state of the Philippines.
"Itim ngayon ang kulay ng bansa sa gutom at krimen, nagluluksa," Duterte said.
Imee followed Duterte's line and said, "Gutom na ang sikmura, gutom pa sa hustisya. Ginigipit ang hindi ka-alyansa."
Duterte ended the spiel by endorsing Imee.
To recall, Imee was part of the administration's senatorial ticket called Alyansa Para sa Bagong Pilipinas.
The reelectionist senator officially left the administration slate on March 26 after she led the Senate investigation into the arrest of former President Rodrigo Duterte, Sara's father.
Prior to leaving the administration slate, President Marcos had already omitted Imee in his endorsement speeches during the Alyansa Para sa Bagong Pilipinas' campaign rallies.
Imee earlier released preliminary findings of the congressional inquiry, and stated that the arrest of Duterte on March 11, on the basis of an arrest warrant issued by the International Criminal Court (ICC), violated the rights of the former president.
