Leody de Guzman doubts Alyansa slate is ‘intact’
Senatorial candidate Leody de Guzman said on Tuesday that he’s not convinced that the Marcos administration’s 11-man senatorial slate is “intact” as it claimed to be despite the individual endorsements of its bets from personalities outside of the alliance.
(No one believes that the administration's coalition is solid and united. The proof of this is their differing views on the arrest of the former president, and the results of various surveys that show their candidates' rankings are declining.)
The labor leader was reacting to the earlier statement of Alyansa Para sa Bagong Pilipinas' campaign manager and Navotas Representative Toby Tiangco who said that the five party coalition remains unbroken.
"[B]ecause politics is about addition, not division. It is about building coalitions. And in any election every bit of support counts... Ang bawat pag-endorso na makukuha ng bawat kandidato ng Alyansa ay patunay na pagtango at pagyakap sa Bagong Pilipinas na isinusulong ng ating Pangulo (Every endorsement for an Alyansa candidate if proof of public approval of the Bagong Pilipinas being advanced by the President). And that is what matters most," Tiangco said.
For his part, De Guzman said that the coalition has united “traitors” and never thought about the plight of workers.
(If they really have unity, it is a unity of traitors and opportunists because they only use each other for their own ambitions. But they will never have unity with the workers and the people because of their lack of action on important issues such as wage increases, legalization of manpower agencies, runaway inflation and the climate crisis.)
Further, De Guzman is unfazed with the survey results wherein Alyansa bets are leading.
(A lot more of our countrymen today are not afraid to try new names that carry progressive platforms, such as young students. Consistent with campus surveys, no one is slipping in among the reelectionists or from the political dynasty.
(They can no longer fool the hungry, deprived of public services, and exploited people.)
