DILG: Status of local roads, bridges across PH now online

The condition of local roads and bridges across the country now can be checked through the online database Local Roads and Bridges Inventory (LRBI), the Department of the Interior and Local Government (DILG) said Wednesday.

In a statement, the DILG said the public can access LRBI at https://lrbi.dilg.gov.ph/.

The department said LRBI is a valuable resource for sectors involved in infrastructure development, from government to engineering and urban planning.

"LRBI is an essential tool for decision-makers, particularly in terms of assessing road and bridge conditions at the local level," the DILG said.

"Policymakers can also use LRBI data to prioritize infrastructure projects based on the actual state of roads and bridges," it added.

As of December 31, 2024, the DILG said LRBI featured the assessment of 167,719.36 kms of local roads and the 17,065 bridges of the country's 17 regions, excluding the Bangsamoro Autonomous Region in Muslim Mindanao (BARMM).

LRBI was included in the Philippine Statistics Authority System of Designated Statistics. For the DILG, this shows the online database's significance as a vital data set for planning and policy formulation.

In a memo circular issued earlier, the DILG called on local governments to use the Local Roads and Bridge Inventory and Condition Survey as a basis to assess the condition of their infrastructures and ensure that all data reflects their actual conditions.

Local governments are also directed to regularly update and upload the progressive status of their local roads and bridges in the Road and Bridge Information System for the LRBI. — VDV, GMA Integrated News
