Marcos urges Filipinos to choose peace, safety during Holy Week
President Ferdinand "Bongbong" Marcos Jr. on Thursday urged Filipinos to choose peace and safety for their families during the Holy Week.
"Ngayong Mahal na Araw, piliin natin ang kapayapaan, piliin natin ang kaligtasan para sa ating mga sarili at lalo na sa ating mga pamilya," Marcos said in a video message posted on his social media account.
(This Holy Week, let us choose peace, let us choose safety for ourselves and especially for our family.)
He added that the public should be giving and humble while on the road.
"Ang Bagong Pilipino ay naninindigan para sa kanyang bayan. Ang Bagong Pilipino ay pumapanig sa kapayapaan at kaligtasan lalo na sa lansangan. Magbigayan tayo, maging mapagkumbaba. Mabuhay po tayong lahat at mag-ingat po tayo sa daan," said Marcos.
(The Filipinos stand for their country. The Filipinos side with peace and safety especially on the road. Let us be giving, be humble.)
The President earlier called on the motorists to remain disciplined while on the road and not resort to violence when there are unpleasant encounters, amid recent road incidents.
In a separate social media post, First Lady Liza Marcos reminded the public to treat one another with compassion and grace.
