Pinoys continue to travel after Holy Week break

Some passengers decided to travel on Monday to avoid the influx of people during the Holy Week exodus last week, according to reports on GMA Integrated News’ Unang Balita.

At the Parañaque Integrated Terminal Exchange (PITX), passengers started to arrive early morning for their trip to provinces and return to work in Metro Manila, GMA Integrated News’ Bea Pinlac reported.

“Kapag sumabay ka ng Holy Week na katulad naming na may edad na, ayaw naming makipagsiksikan so mas maganda 'yung after Holy Week kasi hindi na gaano maraming tao at saka relax siya,” passenger Virgie Balicha said.

(If you are going to travel and old like us, you don’t want to be in crowded places, so it’s better to take a trip after Holy Week when there aren't as many people and it's more relaxing.)

“Kaunti na lang ang pasahero papunta dito pero naghintay pa rin kami doon sa Pangasinan pabalik dito. Mas okay na ngayon, madaling araw kami bibiyahe,” another passenger Marissa Sarmiento said.

(There are only a few passengers coming here but we still waited in Pangasinan to return here. It is better now, we will leave early in the morning.)

The management of PITX said they are still expecting many passengers to arrive at the terminal until Wednesday.

At the Batangas Port, the arrival area was crowded with passengers, according to a separate report of GMA Integrated News’ Dano Tingcungco. They were waiting for buses heading to Metro Manila.

There was also a buildup of passengers inside the ticketing booth, especially the line for trips to Calapan City, Oriental Mindoro.

More passengers are expected to arrive at the Batangas Port later in the afternoon.

Meanwhile at the North Luzon Expressway (NLEX), many motorists were still hitting the road on the day of resumption of work and class after the Holy Week, according to a report of GMA Integrated News’ James Agustin.
