BARMM condoles with Catholic faithful over Pope Francis’ death
The Bangsamoro Autonomous Region in Muslim Mindanao (BARMM) government on Tuesday extended condolences to the Catholic Church and the Catholics in the region following the death of Pope Francis.
In a statement, BARMM chief minister Abdulraof Macacua described Pope Francis as a “source of moral clarity” for his call for peace.
“The news of his passing brings profound sadness as Pope Francis was a beacon of hope and tireless advocate for peace, justice, and interfaith dialogue. Testament to this were his persistent and heartfelt appeals for peace in the Middle East, especially in the face of atrocities in Palestine,” Macacua said.
“He was a source of moral clarity as he continuously urged world leaders to depart from war and instead seek peaceful resolutions,” he added.
The BARMM chief emphasized that Pope Francis' advocacy for peace were not just pronouncements, but a “call to action and a reminder of our shared humanity.”
“In this time of mourning, we stand in solidarity with our Christian brothers and sisters, and we reaffirm our commitment to fostering a society where peace and mutual respect are the cornerstones of our existence,” Macacua said.
The Vatican on Monday announced the passing of Pope Francis. He was 88 and had a serious bout of double pneumonia.
Based on his certificate, which was published by the Vatican, Pope Francis died of a stroke and irreversible heart failure, and had fallen into a coma before his death. —Giselle Ombay/AOL, GMA Integrated News
