Dengue cases down 23% in late March 2025
The Department of Health (DOH) on Thursday reported a 23% drop in dengue cases across the country in late March.
In a statement, DOH said there were 9,289 dengue cases from March 16 to 29, 2025, fewer than the 12,050 cases from March 2 to 15, 2025.
DOH also logged a 0.36% case fatality rate, or almost four deaths out of every 1,000 dengue cases.
The Health department attributed the decrease in dengue cases to the vector control of communities, including the cleaning of possible breeding grounds of mosquitoes.
It also said there are fewer dengue cases because of the health education program of the agency, which urges the public to consult a doctor if they have symptoms, and prompt medical response.
“Ang pagsugpo sa dengue ay nagsisimula sa sariling bakuran. Ipagpatuloy natin ang nasimulang pagpuksa sa pinamamahayan ng lamok dahil kung walang lamok, walang dengue,” Health Secretary Ted Herbosa said.
(Dengue prevention starts in our backyard. Let's continue to eradicate mosquito breeding grounds because without mosquitoes, there is no dengue.)
He also urged the public to prepare for the wet season, which will begin around July.
From January to April 2025, there have been 95,262 dengue cases in the country, which is 75% higher than the 54,556 recorded cases in 2024.
The DOH reminded the public to wear long sleeves and pants and apply insect repellent to protect themselves from mosquito bites.
