PNP: Validated election-related incidents now 30
The number of validated election-related incidents has increased to 30, according to the Philippine National Police on Friday.
In an update as of Thursday, the PNP said 22 of the validated ERIs were “violent” and eight were “non-violent.”
Most of the validated violent ERIs were reported in the Bangsamoro Autonomous Region in Muslim Mindanao with eight, followed by Cordillera Administrative Region with six and Zamboanga Peninsula with three
One validated violent ERI each were in the Ilocos Region, Central Luzon, Eastern Visayas, Davao Region, and Soccsksargen.
The PNP is still validating eight suspected ERIs in Cagayan Valley, Bicol, CAR, and Calabarzon.
Meanwhile, the PNP said a total of 2,626 individuals were arrested for violating the election gun ban.
Most of them were from Metro Manila with 906, followed by Central Luzon with 334 and Central Visayas with 276.
The arrested election gun ban violators include the following:
- 18 PNP personnel
- 15 Armed Forces of the Philippines personnel
- six personnel from other law enforcement agencies
- nine elected government officials
- two appointed government officials
- five CAFGU Active Auxiliary
- 12 foreign nationals
- three children in conflict with the law
- two communist rebels
- 46 security guards
- 2,508 civilians
A total of 2,708 firearms were seized — 1,030 revolvers, 752 pistols, 107 gun replicas, 64 explosives, 50 Class A guns, 23 rifles, 19 shotguns, five Class B guns, among others.
Election Day is on May 12, but overseas voters may cast their votes from April 13 to May 12, while local absentee voters may cast their votes from April 28 to 30. —AOL, GMA Integrated News
