NTC suspends network repairs, maintenance from May 5-14 for Eleksyon 2025
The National Telecommunications Commission (NTC) has suspended major network repairs and maintenance works from May 5 to 14 for the 2025 Local and National Elections.
Under Memorandum Order No. 003-04-2025, public telecommunications entities (PTEs) and internet service providers were directed to postpone repairs and maintenance works for uninterrupted connectivity throughout the country during the elections.
The memorandum also directed PTEs and service providers to ensure all network installation, repairs, and maintenance works were completed by May 3, 2025.
However, emergency repairs are allowed under strict protocols as long as providers remain on full operational alert.
Moreover, all network maintenance personnel are required to have valid company IDs, wear official uniforms, and operate clearly marked service vehicles.
“In every signal sent, in every message delivered, we want the Filipino people to feel secure knowing their voices are protected,” Department of Information and Communications Technology (DICT) Secretary Henry Aguda said in a statement on Monday.
“Our job is to make sure that the digital infrastructure supporting the May 12, 2025 Elections reflects the same integrity we demand from our democratic institutions,” he added.
NTC also assured that it is coordinating with the Commission on Elections, the Armed Forces of the Philippines, and the Philippine National Police to monitor and respond to any threats or disruptions to critical communication infrastructure.
It added that its regional election monitoring teams are also activated across all 16 NTC regional offices, ensuring connectivity during the elections.
