Alyansa bets say Marcos presence huge factor in campaign
As they end their campaign for Eleksyon 2025, some senatorial candidates of Alyansa Para Sa Bagong Pilipinas expressed their gratitude to President Ferdinand ''Bongbong'' Marcos Jr., noting that the Chief Executive's presence was a big factor in their campaign.
At a press briefing, former senator Panfilo ''Ping'' Lacson said the President was even risking his own security amid attending the campaign rallies of the Alyansa in various provinces.
''I’ve never seen or experienced ang suporta na ginagawa ni PBBM sa slate ng Alyansa. Imagine, risking his own security, dumadalo even open areas nandoon siya vulnerable ang kanyang physical security pero andoon pa rin siya, and he stayed with us all the way from start to finish,'' Lacson said.
(I've never seen or experienced the support given by PBBM to the Alyansa slate. Imagine, risking his own security, he goes to open areas where he is vulnerable .. and he stayed with us all the way from start to finish.)
Former senate president Vicente Sotto III said it is significant when the President believes in their skills and capabilities.
''Lahat ng naniniwala sa Presidente ay bibigyan kami ng pagkakataon at titignan din ang aming karanasan, adhikain, ano ang mga plano namin gawin,'yong aming track record at experience. So malaking bagay 'yon, malaking tulong sa amin ‘yon. Iba ‘yong pangulo ng Pilipinas ang naniniwala sayo—napakahalaga,'' Sotto said.
(All those who believe in the President will give us a chance, they would look at our experience, advocacy, our plans, track record. Those kind of things help us. It's different when the president of the Philippines believes in you ... it's really important.
ACT-CIS party-list Representative Erwin Tulfo, meanwhile, said the President is good at campaigning since most of the administration-backed candidates are included in the surveys.
''Magagaling ang mga kasama natin, may mga experience things like that. So ibig sabihin, it was a very very big factor ‘yong pangulo na kasama mo sa pangangampanya,'' Tulfo said.
(We have good candidates ... with experience ... things like that. So it means, it was a very big factor that the President campaigns with you.)
In an earlier statement, Alyansa campaign manager Toby Tiangco stressed that their campaign had centered on “accountability, competence, and putting the Filipino people first,” which was fully aligned with Marcos’ “Bagong Pilipinas” agenda.
“We believe we have built something strong and genuine. We are hopeful that on May 12, the Filipino people will elect a Senate that will help President Marcos deliver on his promises and move the country forward,” Tiangco said.
He also expressed gratitude to Filipinos, campaign volunteers, local leaders, and members of the media who supported and covered the coalition’s campaign from the beginning.
“As we come to the end of this historic campaign, we want to take a moment to thank everyone who made this journey possible. Sa lahat ng volunteers, local leaders, supporters, at lalong lalo na sa ating mga kababayan na mainit na tumanggap sa amin sa bawat sulok ng bansa, maraming salamat po (To all volunteers, local leaders, supporters and especially to the public who welcomed us, thank you),” Tiangco said. — RSJ, GMA Integrated News
