Eleksyon 2025: A step-by-step guide to casting your votes
Have you decided on the candidates you will vote for in the 2025 national and local elections?
The Commission on Elections (Comelec) reminded the public to vote for the following number of candidates per position:
National
- Maximum of 12 senators
- 1 party-list
Local
- 1 member of the House of Representatives
- 1 provincial governor
- 1 provincial vice-governor
- Sangguniang Panlalawigan
- 1 mayor
- 1 vice mayor
- Sangguniang Panlungsod o Bayan
Here is a step-by-step guide to casting your votes:
1. Approach the electoral board (EB) and give your name, precinct number, and sequence number.
2. The EB will check your name on the Election Day Computerized Voters List (EDCVL) and your fingernail for indelible ink mark.
3. If there is no indelible ink mark, the EB will verify your identity and ask you to sign the EDCVL.
4. Receive your ballot, secrecy folder, and marking pen, then proceed to the voting area.
5. Shade the circle beside your chosen candidate's name using the provided pen.
6. Insert your ballot into the automated counting machine (ACM). Wait for the voter receipt and confirm your ballot image on the screen.
7. Review your voter receipt and drop it into the designated box. Return the ballot secrecy folder and pen.
8. Have your right index finger marked with indelible ink.
Regular voting will be from 7 a.m. to 7 p.m., while persons with disability, senior citizens and companions, and pregnant women may cast their votes as early as 5 a.m.
According to Comelec data dated Jan. 23, 2025, there are over 69 million registered voters.
