100% of voting precincts opened for Eleksyon 2025 —Comelec
All precincts across the country have officially opened on Monday for Eleksyon 2025, according to the Commission on Elections (Comelec).
Comelec chairperson George Erwin Garcia said 100% of the 94,000 voting precincts nationwide already started catering to the 68 million voters who will cast ballots for election 2025.
"Sa buong bansa nagsimula na, 100% na nagbukas ang mga presinto natin," said Garcia.
(Nationwide, our precincts have already started to open 100%.)
Early voting hours started at 5 a.m. while regular voting hours began at 7 a.m. and will close at 7 p.m.
Meanwhile, Garcia said some polling precincts experienced delay in opening due to various reasons, including the late gathering of official printed ballots.
"May mga nadelay, hindi nakapagbukas ang election registration board sa bandang area ng Mindanao hindi dahil sa karahasan," he said.
(There were delays because the election registration board was unable to open in the Mindanao area, not because of the violence.)
"Walang problema sa election paraphernalia, mga makina, kasi nasa kanila na yan eh. Kaya lang yung mga balota kinukuha pa ng mga guro sa Opisina ng Treasurer," added Garcia.
(There is no problem with the election paraphernalia, the machines, because they already have them. It's just that the teachers are still collecting the ballots from the treasurer's Office.)
Syempre, kung marami sila na kukuha, mahaba-haba ang pila. 'Yung pagkuha ng balota ang nakapag-delay," Garcia added.
(Of course, if there are many people who will get it, it would result in a long line, which caused the delay.)
Earlier, the Philippine National Police reported delays in some polling centers for election 2025 due to technical glitches and power interruptions.
These delays were reported in Central Luzon, Northern Mindanao, Cordillera Administrative Region, Davao Region, and Bangsamoro Autonomous Region in Muslim Mindanao. —VAL, GMA Integrated News
