PNP: 4 dead, 12 injured halfway through Eleksyon 2025
A total of four people died while 12 others were injured halfway through Eleksyon 2025 on Monday, according to the Philippine National Police (PNP).
In an update as of 1 p.m., the PNP said two of the fatalities were from a shooting incident in Bangsamoro Autonomous Region in Muslim Mindanao (BARMM) involving a municipal councilor bet and a brother of a barangay chairman.
The other two deaths were reported in an incident in Negros Island Region where eight persons were also injured.
A total of 12 incidents have been reported on Election Day so far in Zamboanga Peninsula, Northern Mindanao, Davao Region, BARMM, Negros Island Region, Metro Manila, and Cordillera Administrative Region (CAR).
These incidents were armed encounters, shooting incidents, automated counting machine delays, robbery, and fire, according to the PNP.
Amid these incidents, PNP chief Police General Rommel Marbil said the conduct of the Philippine midterm polls this year has been peaceful so far.
"Hundred percent maayos po ang eleksyon natin. Wala po tayong nakikitang magulo kasi nire-report sa akin. Except doon sa Mindanao. The rest maganda, peaceful po ang eleksyon ngayon," Marbil said in an ambush interview.

The early voting hours for senior citizens, persons with disabilities (PWDs), and pregnant women were set from 5 a.m. to 7 a.m., according to the Commission on Elections (Comelec).
Meanwhile, the regular voting hours were set from 7 a.m. to 7 p.m. Seniors, PWDs, and pregnant women can still vote after 7 a.m. but within the cutoff period. — VDV, GMA Integrated News
