PPCRV: Transmitted votes almost 98%, thanks Comelec for giving data
The Parish Pastoral Council for Responsible Voting (PPCRV) on Tuesday afternoon said it has almost 98% of transmitted votes after it acquired data from the Commission on Elections (Comelec).
“We already have the data, which we could not see earlier, and we received it when we were told we were going to receive it,” PPCRV spokesperson Ana Singson told reporters.
“I have to say, (Comelec) Chairman George Garcia, you are a man of your word. You came out this morning in a press conference and said that you would give us the data in the morning, so thank you very much. We knew all along we could rely on your integrity and responsiveness to our queries,” she added.
Earlier today, Singson said PPCRV needs 18% of transmitted votes from Comelec to have matched data, since it only has 79.9% of transmitted votes, while Comelec has 98%.
On the inquiry on the alleged vote discrepancy, Singson said the important thing is that the election returns were transmitted.
“I think the most important thing is we have now eyes on the data and that is all we ever asked for because that is what we all of you, the transparency to see the entire count,” Singson said.
Comelec earlier said entities receiving the election returns from polling precincts, including the media, should have a software program that would “clean” the data and prevent duplication of ERs.
The poll body added that it does not need to clean or fix the date since the results are coming in in real time. —RF, GMA Integrated News
