Comelec: Candidates have until May 17 to remove campaign materials, ads on social media
The Commission on Elections on Tuesday reminded all candidates who ran in the 2025 Philippine midterm elections to remove all their election posters and paraphernalia, including social media contents, within five days after the elections.
Comelec spokesperson Rex Laudiangco made the reminder and noted that an election offense may be filed against those candidates who failed to do so.
“Ayon sa ating resolution na implementation ng ating Fair Elections Act, they have five days to remove their campaign materials and that includes their posts on social media kung direktang campaign material,” Laudiangco said in an ambush interview.
“It will be deemed as an election offense. Hindi man po mahabol pa ng disqualification, sabihin na natin wala ng time mag-file, meron pa rin naman pong election offense case,” he added.
(Based on our resolution on the implementation of the Fair Elections Act, they have five days to remove their campaign materials and that includes their posts on social media if these are direct campaign material.)
Laudiangco explained that a candidate who will be convicted of election offenses may also face disqualification.
The May 12 elections were concluded at 7:00 p.m. the same day.
