DepEd thanks teachers for their service and hard work during Eleksyon 2025
The Department of Education (DepEd) on Tuesday commended the teachers and other poll workers for the commitment and civic spirit they showed throughout the conduct of the Election 2025.
The agency noted that out of the 758,549 poll workers deployed nationwide, over 660,000 were DepEd personnel, helping ensure a safe, fair, and orderly midterm polls.
“Salamat po sa lahat ng guro, poll workers, at school staff na tumulong at nagbantay sa halalan. Mula simula hanggang matapos, andiyan kayo—hindi bumitaw,” Education Secretary Sonny Angara said in a statement.
(Thank you to all the teachers, poll workers, and school personnel who helped in and monitored the elections. From start to finish, you were there—you didn't give up.)
“Saludo po kami. Dahil sa inyo, naging maayos at safe ang proseso,” he added.
(We salute you. Because of you, the process was smooth and safe.)
Election-related issues
DepEd also noted that its task force, which operated 24/7 from May 11 to 13, logged a total of 603 election-related incidents.
Most reports came from Zamboanga Peninsula, Bangsamoro Autonomous Region in Muslim Mindanao (BARMM), and the National Capital Region (NCR).
Common issues involved malfunctions of vote counting machines, irregularities in ballots and receipts, and concerns on the voter list
Most of the concerns were resolved at the regional and division level, while some were endorsed to the Commission on Elections (Comelec) for appropriate action.
Despite these incidents, DepEd believed that the 2025 elections remained “largely peaceful.”
“In line with the assessment of the Comelec and other agencies, we can say that overall, the elections were conducted smoothly,” DepEd election task force chairman Undersecretary Malcolm Garma.
The Department of Budget and Management (DBM) recently approved a P2,000 across the board hike in the compensation of teachers and other poll workers serving in the upcoming May 12 national and local elections:
- P12,000 from the previous P10,000 for the chairperson
- P11,000 from the previous P9,000 for the poll clerk
- P11,000 from the previous P9,000 for the 3rd member
- P8,000 from the previous P6,000 for the support staff
