EU delegation, PCG officials meet n Manila
A delegation of the European Union (EU) had a meeting with the officials of the Philippine Coast Guard (PCG) at the latter’s national headquarters in Port Area, Manila on Tuesday.
In a statement on Wednesday, the PCG said its commandant Admiral Ronnie Gil Gavan welcomed the EU delegation.
Head of the EU delegation to the Philippines Mariomassimo Santoro as well as first secretary and political officer Mr. Frederic Grillet were present in the meeting.
“The visit strengthened maritime cooperation and explored new avenues for deeper and more strategic collaboration between the Philippines and the European Union,” the PCG said.
“The PCG and the European Union have been working together since 2023. Strengthening PH-EU ties in trade, security, and development remains a priority to ensure sustainable and inclusive progress,” it added.
According to the PCG, President Ferdinand “Bongbong” Marcos Jr. acknowledged the three years of established deeper interconnection between the Philippines and the EU. — Joviland Rita/RSJ, GMA Integrated News
