No ‘presidentiable’ yet — Lakas

MANILA, Philippines - If elections were held today, the ruling political party Lakas-Christian-Muslim-Democrats (Lakas-CMD) cannot field any bet. And at this early stage, the group is still undecided on the standard bearer in the 2010 presidential elections. In a forum last Friday on the "Preview of the 2010 Presidential Elections" at the Asian Institute of Management in Makati City organized by the Center for Philippine Futuristics, Parañaque Rep. Eduardo C. Zialcita (1st district), vice-president for recruitment and membership of Lakas, said they "are not particularly seeing it [presidential bid] to anybody [in the party]." "The only missing link is magic... The same magic that Cory [President Corazon C. Aquino] and Erap [President Joseph E. Estrada] had," he said. "We are not obsessed to it [fielding a presidential candidate] at the moment because we are still considering many factors. We are determined to choose a candidate who will[ [decentralize] everything, sustain our ideologies in the party and push for economic development," Mr. Zialcita said. - BusinessWorld
