CA upholds no-bail ruling on accused in missing sabungeros case

The Court of Appeals (CA) upheld its earlier decision to void the Manila Regional Trial Court Branch 40's grant of bail to six persons charged with kidnapping and serious illegal detention in the missing sabungeros case.

According to a "Saksi” report on Monday, accused filed a motion for reconsideration that there are no clear provisions stating that the bail was canceled.

The CA third division said that although the first decision has no direct provision for cancelling the bail of the accused, it is still clear that this is revoked.

The CA stressed that after reviewing evidence of the case of missing sabungeros there is “evident proof” that the accused committed the crime.

The accused also failed to show the CA missed or neglected evidence that would convince them that the first decision should be changed. — Mariel Celine Serquiña/BAP, GMA Integrated News
