SOJ Remulla vows justice after 2 soldiers file rape raps vs. general
Justice Secretary Jesus Crispin Remulla vowed Thursday that justice will be served after two soldiers filed rape complaints against a two-star general.
“We will look at it in a way that in the end we will get justice for the people who were abused. Siyempre ‘yung mga na-api dapat magkaroon ng hustisya,” Remulla said in an ambush interview.
(We will look at it in a way that in the end, we will get justice for the people who were abused. Of course, those who were oppressed should receive justice.)
The rape and attempted rape complaints were filed with the prosecutor’s office in Lipa, Batangas.
The complainants said in their affidavit that the general asked them to sleep in his room, which they did not take seriously at first. That’s when the alleged sexual assault took place.
Meanwhile, the general denied the allegations against him. He said that the sexual assault was impossible to happen as the complainants could “overpower” him.
The complainants’ lawyer, however, stressed that rape could happen even to men.
At present, the general has been relieved from his post and placed under restrictive custody and confined to his quarters. — RSJ, GMA Integrated News
