Public warned vs fake PAGASA officials soliciting money

State weather bureau PAGASA on Sunday warned the public against individuals identifying themselves as officials of the agency to solicit money for a foundation.

In an advisory, PAGASA said it received a report that a contractor received an email from a fake official seeking to solicit donations.

“We do not tolerate and detest that misrepresentation,” the agency said.

“Please be advised that no individuals or organization are authorized to use the name of PAGASA, its officials and employees for a favor,” it added.

It urged the public to report similar incidents to its Public Information Unit at (02) 8284-0800 local 1100 to 1101 or at information@pagasa.dost.gov.ph.

PAGASA is a government agency that primarily provides weather forecasts and tropical cyclone warnings, flood bulletins and advisories, hydrological, climatological, and farm weather forecasts to the public. —Mariel Celine Serquiña/RF, GMA Integrated News
