Unified 911 emergency response system to partially start in July —DILG
The Department of the Interior and Local Government (DILG) on Monday said the unified 911 emergency response system is expected to partially start in July.
In a press conference, DILG Secretary Jonvic Remulla said the program will be rolled out first in Ilocos Region, Metro Manila, Central Visayas, and Bangsamoro Autonomous Region in Muslim Mindanao (BARMM)
“I think July ang Region 1, NCR, Region 7, at BARMM. Tapos (Then) every month all the regions,” he said.
The department is expected to bid out the project for the unified 911 emergency response system in less than a month, according to Remulla.
“In less than one month, i-bid out natin ang unified 911 system para sa buong Pilipinas. Unified na. Ngayon kasi 35 ang emergency call numbers. Gagawin nating centralized na siya,” Remulla said.
(In less than one month, we will bid out the unified 911 system for the entire Philippines. It is unified. Right now there are 35 emergency call numbers. We will centralize it.)
The unified 911 system has geolocation tools, live-streaming capabilities, and integration of police, fire, and medical services, according to Remulla.
“Kung nakikita niya sa dito, police lang ang nag-respond, pero wala ang fire, wala ang paramedics. Ito integrated na ang public safety system ng buong Pilipinas, ang response system,” he said.
(If you noticed here, only the police responded. There were no fire responders, no paramedics. This one will be the integrated public safety system of the entire Philippines, the response system.)
Emergency responders equipped with body-worn cameras, radios, and medical support will be deployed more efficiently to enhance response time and public safety, Remulla said. —KG, GMA Integrated News
