Marcos meets PNP chief Torre amid school opening

President Ferdinand "Bongbong" Marcos Jr. and Philippine National Police chief Police General Nicolas Torre III met on Monday to discuss police visibility and security in schools amid the opening of School Year 2025-2026.

During the meeting, Torre showed Marcos the view from the responding police officer's bodycam as a demonstration of the PNP's three- to five-minute response time to 911 calls.

Torre has said cases of bullying in schools may be reported through the PNP’s 911 hotline.

During his visits to some schools in Quezon City, Torre ordered police commanders to be on the lookout for street crimes and bullying.

Around 27 million are expected to be enrolled from preschool to senior high school for this school year, the Department of Education said. –NB, GMA Integrated News
