PNP clarifies Rendon Labador not leading cops' fitness program

The Philippine National Police (PNP) has clarified that fitness coach and social media influencer Rendon Labador would not head the weight loss program of the police organization.

In a memorandum dated June 21, the PNP Directorate for Community Police Relations stated that ''the CPNP has not authorized any fitness instructor to primarily lead a weight loss program for the entire PNP.''

"Social media officers should exercise caution in posting and sharing content to avoid spreading misinformation that may cause confusion," the memorandum read.

Labador earlier said he offered his services for free to help police officers become fit and healthy.

In a Facebook reel posted by Labador on his page last week, the fitness influencer was seen at the PNP headquarters in Camp Crame, Quezon City. The video also showed him speaking with the reporters.

This came after PNP chief Police General Nicolas Torre III warned that overweight police officers will be removed from service if they will not be able to trim down their weight after a year.

Citing Section 30 of Republic Act No. 6975, also known as the Department of the Interior and Local Government Act of 1990, Torre said that among the general qualifications for appointment as officer or member of the PNP is that a person “must weigh not more or less than five kilograms of the standard weight corresponding to his or her height, age, and sex.” —AOL, GMA Integrated News
