PNP secures other possible areas where missing sabungeros could be located

The Philippine National Police (PNP) said Tuesday that security efforts are in place in areas where the missing cockfighting enthusiasts or sabungeros could have been brought.

“Without giving too much specifics so as not to compromise po yung ongoing investigation, definitely there are some security being implemented,” PNP spokesperson Police Brigadier General Jean Fajardo said in a press briefing.

“Not only po with respect kay alyas Totoy, maging doon sa mga posible pang lugar na nagamit para itago yung possible remains po ng ibang missing sabungeros. Lahat po yun are being documented now,” she added.

Fajardo refused to give more details on the matter as perpetrators may tamper the concerned areas.

A total of 34 cockfighting enthusiasts have been reported missing from 2021 to 2022. According to the police, the missing personalities were kidnapped allegedly due to match fixing or cheating in the cockfighting games.

Whistleblower Julie "Dondon" Patidongan, who is also one of the accused, said the victims were already buried in Taal Lake. However, the PNP said that there could be other possible areas.

Patidongan has named businessman Atong Ang as a mastermind in the case and also linked actress Gretchen Barretto to the disappearances. Both Ang and Barretto have denied the allegations. — RSJ, GMA Integrated News
