Marcos invites Trump to PH
President Ferdinand Marcos Jr. has formally invited US President Donald Trump to visit the Philippines.
Marcos said he personally invited Trump during their bilateral meeting at the White House on Tuesday.
In a press conference during his bilateral meeting with Marcos, GMA Integrated News asked Trump when he will visit the Philippines.
"Soon," replied the American President as he turned to Marcos and said, “He invited me.”
The Philippines will be hosting the Association of Southeast Asian Nations (ASEAN) summit in 2026.
While not a member of the ASEAN, the United States is part of the East Asia Summit, a regional forum comprised of ten ASEAN member states along with other countries such as the US, Japan, China, among others.
The US and the Philippines will also be marking 80 years of diplomatic relations and 75 years of alliance next year.
Trump was also among the world leaders who attended the 31st Association of Southeast Asian Nations Summit hosted by the Philippines in 2017. —VAL, GMA Integrated News
