Marcos, FL Liza pay respect to Mahatma Gandhi
By ANNA FELICIA BAJO, GMA Integrated News
As part of his five-day state visit to India, President Ferdinand ''Bongbong'' Marcos Jr. paid respect to Indian philosopher and independence hero Mahatma Gandhi.
Marcos, together with First Lady Louise ''Liza'' Araneta-Marcos on Tuesday offered a wreath at Raj Ghat for Gandhi.
Gandhi, who was born in 1869, played a key role in India's fight for independence.
He was assassinated by a Hindu radical on January 30, 1948, a few months after he led India to freedom from British rule through a non-violent struggle.
Gandhi's dedication to nonviolent and anti-colonial protest had made him an inspirational figure for millions of people up to present times. —VAL, GMA Integrated News
