DOH, GOCC hospitals ready to receive patients amid overcapacity at PGH ER
Hospitals of the Department of Health and government-owned and controlled corporations are ready to receive patients who can no longer be accommodated at the emergency room of the Philippine General Hospital, the DOH said on Tuesday.
This developed after the PGH said on Monday that its emergency room has reached capacity because of the sheer number of patients who have been coming in.
(We ask that you look for other hospitals that can provide emergency care. The emergency room remains open for patients in critical condition.)
In a dzBB interview by Manny Vargas on Tuesday, DOH Assistant Secretary Albert Domingo said that there were 20 DOH hospitals and GOCC hospitals, including the Philippine Heart Center and the Lung Center of the Philippines, in the National Capital Region that could accommodate the patients.

(DOH hospitals and the our GOCC hospitals are open and ready to accept patients that can no longer be accommodated by the UP-PGH because of the temporary overcapacity of its ER... We are advising all the hospitals, clinics, ambulances, and doctors to avoid bringing new patients to the UP-PGH and bring them over to DOH hospitals for now.)
PGH and DOH advised the public to coordinate with the Metro Manila Center for Health Development through phone numbers 09561753710 and 09202511800 before bringing a patient to the hospital.
Based on information from the dzBB, more than 300 patients were being accommodated at the PGH Adult and Pediatric Emergency Room, which was beyond its capacity. –NB, GMA Integrated News
