Sotto laments Senate's lower trust, performance ratings
Senate Minority Leader Vicente "Tito" Sotto III on Wednesday expressed frustration over recent survey results which showed that the trust and performance ratings of the Senate declined, slumping to numbers much lower than those of the House of Representatives.
Based on the latest OCTA Research survey results released Tuesday, the trust ratings of the upper chamber for the second quarter of 2025 went down to 49% from 57%.
Meanwhile, the Senate's performance approval rating dropped to 47% from 53%.
"The rating of the Senate has never been this low much less than even lower than the [House of Representatives]. Never!" Sotto told the media.
He thus suggested that the issues with the national budget, particularly the alleged insertions, not be repeated in order for the Senate to regain the public trust.
"Para makabawi (How to recover)? Never repeat what happened to the budget last year and listen more to the cries of our people," Sotto said.
The OCTA survey saw improvement in the House of Representatives' numbers, with its trust increasing to 57% from 49%, and performance climbing to 55% from 47%. — VDV, GMA Integrated News
