Philipines Australia Brawner Johnston Camp Aguinaldo enhanced defense ties

Top officials of the armed forces of the Philippines and Australia on Friday discussed enhancing cooperation and interoperability between the two militaries.

Armed Forces of the Philippines (AFP) chief General Romeo Brawner Jr. welcomed Australian Defence Force (ADF) chief Admiral David Lance Johnston during a courtesy call.

According to the AFP, the meeting highlighted the close defense partnership between the Philippines and Australia, as both leaders exchanged views on enhancing military cooperation and interoperability.

Johnston’s visit coincided with the ongoing Philippines-Australia Exercise ALON 2025, which strengthens the capacity of both militaries to work together in addressing shared security challenges.

ALON 2025 commenced on August 15 with a total of 3,600 personnel from the AFP, ADF, United States Marine Corps, and the Royal Canadian Navy, who are expected to participate in its activities.

Exercise ALON’s activities will be conducted within the areas of the Northern Luzon Command (NOLCOM) and Western Command (WESCOM). –NB, GMA Integrated News
